I remember the first time I came across Kristi Coulter’s essay, “Enjoli,” the second essay in her book, “Nothing Good Can Come From This.” It took me right back to when the Enjoli commercial debuted on television. I was only thirteen then, and I couldn’t help but dream of becoming a version of the twenty-four-hour woman portrayed in the ad — flashy, skilled in the kitchen, and oozing with sex appeal. I’d watch the commercial, then unfairly compare the glamorous model to my mother, who took us to the grocery store in curlers.  I figured out quickly which woman I wanted to be and then spent decades trying to achieve the unachievable.

Get excited and get spacey because this week, we are joined by our faithful friend from the freakiest coast. I’m talking about Best Day Brewing, a brewery that popped up out of nowhere one day with three kick-ass brews and has returned with a new galactic treat. I want to mention that I believe I previously credited Best Day Brewing to Waunakee, Wisconsin, but in truth, it seems they only distribute through the Midwest and actually find themselves firmly planted in California. That’s probably why their hops are so damn dank and fresh.

HI Y’ALL!  Welcome to your HOOKED TENNESSEE – “Friends in Dry Places” tour!   On this tour we will be hitting some tourist attraction sites AND exploring the lives of some fantastic artists! In 2023 we did only Nashville (which was amazing) and this year after our emotional visit to STUDIO B we decided to add Memphis for some Rhythm & Blues (and Elvis’ Graceland of course) and Dollyland to immerse ourselves in Dolly’s gratitude and kindness!.
