PUBLISHER’S NOTE
It’s Friday! We’re heading into the weekend with waterproof mascara, art therapy wins, and a ready-to-drink Old Fashioned that won’t wreck your Monday. In this week’s edition, we’re spotlighting “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” a dazzling and dramatic deep-dive into faith, fame, and fabulous lashes. We’re also recommending “Strung Out” by Erin Khar — a brutally honest and beautiful memoir that reminds us just how powerful the written word can be in recovery.

From NA cocktails worth a second sip to future travel plans along Spain’s El Camino, and even a Barbie-inspired paint-by-number project that turned into self-care gold, this one’s got it all. Wherever you are and however you unwind, we hope this edition brings a little more joy and intention to your sober weekend.

ENTERTAINMENT

“The Eyes of Tammy Faye” Will Make You Want to Add Extra Layers To Your Waterproof Mascara

“The Eyes of Tammy Faye” is based on and inspired by a documentary from back in 2000. It depicts the real-life scandals and collapse of the multi-million-dollar ministry empire that Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker built. Directed by Michael Showalter, this film stars Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, and Cherry Jones. If you watch this film for no reason other than to see how Jessica Chastain portrays aging with Tammy Faye’s character, it will be worth your time.

HAPPY EVERY HOUR

Spiritless Old Fashioned Ready-to-Drink

You may have heard me say it before, but I’m a fan of creating cocktails. I like the experience of measuring out the ingredients, stirring or shaking and pouring them into vintage glassware, and serving them on a tray to my guests. So, I am typically skeptical of the idea of a cocktail in a can. But I also respect that we each enjoy the cocktail experience in different ways and have unique taste buds. So please take the time to explore the many non-alcoholic spirits and form your own opinions. But here, I offer one woman’s point of view.

Walking from Sarria to Santiago is a delightful journey that offers a wonderful blend of scenery and culture. This section features gently rolling hills, lush forests, and charming villages, making for a pleasant experience.

About 60% of the trail is on scenic footpaths and gravel roads, with the remainder along picturesque cobblestones and smooth asphalt. The route is pleasantly free of steep climbs and rocky paths, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty around you.

Paint by Number Barbie: A Happy Accident Turned Art Therapy Win

I love art projects, but let’s be real — I do not have the natural skills to create masterpieces from scratch. However, I’ve dabbled in paint-by-number before and loved the process. It’s the perfect combo of creativity and structure — kind of like coloring, but for grown-ups who like their art with a side of nostalgia.
