⏪ Friday Flashback: Anger, Glitz & Zero-Proof Sips – Your Weekend Sober Roundup ⏪
Serving you nostalgia, pop culture, and sober sparkle—minus the hangover.

FROM THE DESK OF THE FOUNDER (*that is covered in tchotchkes)
Hey friends,
This week’s Friday Flashback is a heavy one: “Body Brokers.” It’s a gripping film about addiction, exploitation and how health insurance scams prey on the vulnerable. Based on true events, it’ll make you angry — and it should.
But I’ve also got some lighter picks for you:
📚 “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” – Hollywood secrets, love, and resilience.
🥂 Do’Mo – my new fave zero-proof elixir (pairs perfectly with a “White Lotus” binge).
⚾ Recovery Day at the Mariners — mark your calendar for Sept. 14 in Seattle!
Whether you’re watching, reading or sipping, I’ve got your sober weekend lineup covered.
✨ Happy Flashback Friday,
Keep it real, keep it fun and keep it sober,

MOVIE NIGHT
“Body Brokers” - A Gripping True Story of Addiction, Exploitation and Health Insurance Scams
If you are a person in recovery and/or a recovery advocate, “Body Brokers” is the kind of movie that is going to make you angry. Like punching your fist into a wall, angry. Directed and written by John Swab, “Body Brokers” is a film that delves into the challenges of recovery and explores the rehabilitation industry. It will depict how laws that were intended for good, surrounding healthcare and insurance, get twisted into something that I think is pure evil.
Want to know why it’s going to make you so angry? Because it’s based on true events. Yep, that’s right. This is currently happening in our country by money-hungry, self-centered maniacs who are cheating the system with little to no regard for the lives of the addicts they leave in their wake.
Trigger Warning: Don’t watch “Body Brokers” if you are easily triggered by drug use.
ADDICTION FICTION
A Journey of Love, Secrets, and Stardom: A Book Review of “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”
“The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a captivating story of fame, love, and the hidden stories behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s golden age. The novel follows the life of the iconic film star Evelyn Hugo as she recounts her extraordinary journey to an unknown journalist, Monique Grant.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is its dual narrative structure, alternating between Evelyn’s vivid and captivating account of her life and Monique’s personal journey of self-discovery. This format not only adds depth to Evelyn’s character but also allows readers to connect emotionally with both women as they navigate through their past and present challenges.
HAPPY EVERY HOUR
Do’Mo — The Brain-Loving Beverage I Can’t Stop (Soberly) Sipping
Let’s just start here: I love my brain. I also love a good party. And I love when I don’t have to choose between the two.
Enter: Do’Mo. My new best beverage friend!
A sober-friendly, zero-proof elixir that doesn’t just taste amazing — it’s designed to work with your brain chemistry, not against it.
(And yes — it pairs exceptionally well with “The White Lotus” binges. Scientific fact.)
