"Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol or morphine or idealism."
FROM THE DESK OF THE FOUNDER
Happy Memorial Day, you gorgeous retired blackout artists. And a special shout-out and thank you to all who have served.
This is the weekend America officially declares summer open, mostly by way of a cooler, a grill, and someone's uncle swearing his light beer "doesn't even count." For about two decades, this was a high-stakes holiday for me. Now it's a Monday with better snacks and a guaranteed good night's sleep.
I hit 20 years sober this spring, and I will tell you the view from out here is ridiculous. Not perfect. Ridiculous in the best way. You still have problems. They just get classier.
So while the rest of the country nurses a sunburn and a "headache" they're blaming on allergies, here's everything we dropped last week. Built for people who are done drinking and nowhere near done living.
Grab the good iced coffee.
Now let’s get to it…

The Definitive 2026 Guide to Sober Entertainment: TV, Film, Books, Music, Podcasts, and NA Drinks Worth Your Time
This is the actual, opinionated, regularly-updated guide to entertainment we recommend at The Sober Curator. Some of it is about sobriety. Most of it is just good. The point is, all of it makes a sober Tuesday more interesting than it has any right to be.
HAPPY EVERY HOUR
TOMONOTOMO Tobalá — Try Saying That Five Times Fast
At first glance, the name alone may not tell you much about the product, so let's start there. TOMONOTOMO is a non-alcoholic distilled agave spirit created by Amanda Chen. The name loosely translates to "I drink, I don't drink," reflecting Amanda's own journey during lockdown, when the former bartender became sober after relocating to Mexico.
BACKSTAGE: Where Recovery Meets Real Life
🎟️ No events on the calendar this week, but BACKSTAGE is loading something gloriously unhinged. On June 3rd, it's the Conspiracy PowerPoint Party.
You bring a deck, a wild theory, and your most confident "trust me, the dots connect" energy. We bring the snacks and zero sobriety to question whether birds are real. This is the kind of night you actually remember. Slides. Receipts. A room full of grown-ass sober adults arguing that the moon landing was filmed in a Trader Joe's. Get inside Backstage →

These Recovery Books Skip the Rock Bottom and Go Straight to the Rebuild
Anna David has been writing about addiction, recovery, and the spectacularly messy middle of modern life since before that was a genre. She is a New York Times bestselling author, a three-time TEDx speaker, and the founder of Legacy Launch Pad Publishing, a hybrid press that helps people with real stories turn them into real books. She has been doing this long enough to know which stories have legs. And her recovery-adjacent catalog? Has legs.
MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health and addiction are often treated as separate workplace issues, but for many employees, they are deeply connected. Sober Curator Contributor Sarah Alaimo shares her perspective as an HR professional in long-term recovery on what employers, managers, and HR teams need to understand when crisis shows up at work.
